GDV · Gente del Void · Mexico City audiovisual collective

The void isn't absence: it's the emptiness staring back at you.

Here, stories twist, satirize reality and leave behind something unsettling, a noise inside the body. Between the circus, the flesh and irony, each work is a game that doesn't ask permission to look at what others would rather hide. We make short films and collaborations, from idea to screen: if you want to sponsor, co-produce or bring the void to your event, write to us.

What we film. Where we show it.

Astro Becerril

“Astro”

Actor | Production Design

Mr. Worldwide, Victorian child, hobbit, arachnid and the group's emo.

Zodiac sign: Libra sun, Scorpio moon, Sagittarius rising.

Chinese zodiac sign: Earth tiger.

Blood type: O negative.

Sex: Yes, please (this pun makes more sense in spanish).

Lucky number: 3.

All my life I wanted to be a vampire. Not anymore, I like being human and the fact that I’ll grow old and die. I really enjoy any type of carnal experience, but I also really enjoy any type of spiritual experience, but I also really enjoy any type of astral experience. And all that joy is portrayed in what I do and express, I guess.

Daniel Coutiño

“D@nku.ru”

Filmmaker | Programmer

Trained in mechatronic engineering, with a specialization in digital systems and software development (apps, web and video games), Daniel has built a crossing between technology and the visual arts. In recent years he has directed his practice toward film, where he has worked as a camera assistant, screenwriter and actor in productions from Gente Del Void.

Influenced by horror, science fiction, the futuristic thriller and dystopia, his exploration holds a dialogue between the dreamlike, the digitized self and biopolitics. In programming and technology he finds a territory to interrogate his own nature and to think of these tools as gestures of emancipation.

Diego Loera

“Consorsio Tijeras”

Camaleonic artist

A.K.A. Consorsio Tijeras is a chameleon-like artist, a Uranus unto his own drive, ambiguous and untranslatable: a Don Julio 70 and a notebook. He kills for nothing, even though everything begs for gunpowder, for a shot. He thinks of his mom and talks to his grandma; he edits every day and would love to be paid — just enough to buy plants. He is one and he is another, yet he reviews and fulfills, with commitment, the camera’s versatility, its takes, its designs.

Laura R. Tolentino

“Ofhanym”

Film Director | Production Design

She is an audiovisual creator interested in fantasy and transdisciplinarity as tools to explore other ways of perceiving and narrating the world. Her practice spans film, production design and digital art, integrating visual experimentation with the building of her own narrative universes.

Through production design, movement and the exploration of body and space, she develops proposals that hold a dialogue between the audiovisual and the stage. She is interested in creating sensitive experiences where image, matter and bodily presence meet to give form to new realities.

Of curious spirit and sensitive soul, she finds in experimentation a territory to connect disciplines, challenge the limits of the image and discover unexpected possibilities.
